Automatic promotion to corporal?

Hi all

I am currently studying Blasting Techniques at Fleming College, as far as I know it is the only program of it's kind in Canada, and when I graduate I am planning on applying to the CAF as a Combat Engineer.
A few weeks ago I was speaking to a friend of mine who is a corporal working in Logistics and he mentioned that with my course I might be eligible for an automatic promotion to corporal upon completing BMQ.

How accurate is his information? If it is accurate how would I go about doing so?

I can provide more information on what exactly my course covers if needed.

Good day,

A PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment) may be conducted of your qualifications during the application process in order to see if any military qualifications could be granted based on civilian qualifications. There is no automatic promotion to the rank of Corporal for the Combat Engineer Occupation.
