...okay not completely agree with but on one subject he has my full support:

NDP Candidate Denounces "Crybaby" "American traitors"
http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/fullcomment/archive/2008/09/25/kelly-mcparland-another-ndp-candidate-in-the-soup-after-denouncing-crybaby-u-s-deserters.aspx

“These American traitors have no place in my Country,” [Andrew McKeever] he writes. “There are bona fide (and by that I mean REAL) refugees out there. Not American crybabies who are trying to turn this country into a hotel....Then he says he has created his own organization, called Deport U.S. War Resisters, dedicated to doing just that.

:salute:

This guy ia an NDP ???

Quick - check his ID!

Wow, I didn't think this was real at first!

First time I can say I agree with something an NDP member has to say.

Taliban Jack did not look happy when questioned about this guy last night on TV......awhhhhh gee.... ;D

Not the most articulate fellow.  I agree in principal, however the comment about kicking the **** out of someone with an opposing viewpoint could be construed as too far, and as funny as the "dicksmack" comment may be, not really MP material.

So is anyone calling for him to be fired ?

Definitley calling for it, but unlikely to happen.  The deadline has passed to appoint new or change candidates in ridings, so taking him out of the race will only hurt the NDP more than leaving this guy in.  From what I've read, Layton has simply accepted his apology, and asked everyone to move on.  Any similar incidents for other parties will likely receive the same result as they can no longer appoint the new candidates.  This is a real doozy though, the Liberals have the entire thing posted on their site, link below.  It is pretty bad.  The best part is, it was posted back in July and just coming out now, conveniently.  I imagine the Liberals had this the whole time and waited for the deadline to pass.

Thats funny. When someone from the government has a "foot-mouth insertion", Mr. layton is quick to call for their firing.

::)

You know what? I applaud this guy for standing on principle and not just blindly following party doctrine. I truly hope he puts the interest of his riding first.

BTW, way to go IMO for calling a spade a spade (ref cry baby comments). :salute:

Well, he certainly has an opinion outside of party doctrine.  This where I agree with him, these people shouldn't have been allowed to stay.  However, read the link of to screenshots of the conversation..  I wouldn't call his method of making his arguments courageous.  He resorts to name calling, making empty threats over the internet, inarticulate arguments, and the list goes on.  It is similar to arguing with a 10 year old who doesn't share your opinion.  I'm a proud Conservative supporter, but even if this guy was a Conservative making these arguments I'd be embarrassed.

The federal NDP is downplaying what an area Liberal is calling a "vulgar, threatening attack" made on Facebook by Durham NDP candidate Andrew McKeever.  The comments not only use foul language and refer to a woman by a vulgar name, but also take a stance opposing that of the NDP on the subject of U.S. war resisters.  In June the House of Commons passed a non-binding parliamentary motion sponsored by NDP incumbent Olivia Chow (Trinity-Spadina) calling on the Conservative government to let Iraq war resisters stay in the country instead of being deported to the U.S., where many would face jail time for abandoning their military duties.  In July Facebook posts to a group aimed at supporting US war resisters in Canada, Mr. McKeever refers to "American crybabies who are trying to turn this country into a hotel." He then goes on to make a number of comments to the group's female administrator, including, "Answer a f______ question you c___. I can guarantee if I ever see you face to face I will make you squeal for the same authorities that you have such a (baseless) disdain for."  Mr. McKeever also threatens another member of the posting group, indicating that if he ever sees him "anywhere in Toronto, I will kick the s___ out of" him.  The comments had members of the Liberal party calling for the Durham NDP candidate's resignation. But the national NDP says since he's apologized, he may continue to run.  "He has reformed his views," said NDP spokeswoman Kathleen Monk. "He no longer believes the things he said on the website and in fact has apologized for all the comments he made on Facebook.  "It was a fulsome apology."  As a result, Mr. McKeever will remain the Durham NDP candidate, she said ....

Ahh......i now understand. "death of a thousand coldcuts" was way worse........ ::)

- Wow, he called a woman a c_nt online, under his own name.

- I can't wait to see him in Parliament!

Hmmm...I can point to a thread where people expressed severe angst when a lady labelled Sarah Palin an old porn-star and redneck.  This guy lobs the name dicksmack and cunt around and there are cheers for the "NDP'er I agree with!!!"

As amused as I am by the gentleman's sentiments, I sense a bit of hypocrisy here....

- I clearly failed to emphasize my sarcasm at the end of my own post.  I should have added one of these:

::)

Wasn't pointed at you TCBF.  It's an comment on the overall righteous indignation that occured on one thread and not another.

- Seen.

- Lots of 'shoe on the other foot' potential all-round.  Had a Conservative candidate called a woman a c_nt online, there would be no end of wailing and gnashing of teeth regarding the hidden Reform Party bias towards women, etc, etc,..

Yup - my point is, if we are going to be like spectators in the Colosseum cheering on a down-and-dirty level of public discourse, we should be ready to accept that a gladiator we don't support sticks a crude jab in at some point....
