No you don't need any specific experience to be considered for this trade. Probably none of us are qualified to say how competitive it is. It's really one of the lesser known trades, so most guys don't even know it's an option when they apply. But none of us regular guys can say how many slots they will have open and how many will apply. The CFVRC (Canadian Forces Virtual Recruiting Center) team is the better guys to speak to about that. They are the ones you can reach at jobs@forces.ca. If you apply for it and you don't have a competitive application for that trade, they will tell you right away that you aren't competitive enough for it.
