    Running

It looks very similar to a program I did, and I found it was an excellent program to start running with.  Good luck with it.

    File closed after my interview

Failing an interview may not have to do with not knowing about the trade.  Yes, there are trade/training questions that are quite specific, but there are other questions too, which have nothing to do with studying.  Reviewing information up to the last second is only going to make some one...

    Application Process Samples [2003 - 2018]

I finally get to post here!  Been waiting for confirmation that I'm getting in, finally got it tonight :)  Some of the dates are approximations because I don't remember them. Recruiting Center: Ottawa / Cornwall Regular/Reserve: Reserves Officer/NCM: Officer 1st Trade Choice: Infantry Officer...

    Apply or wait?

It's still best to ask the unit, it's not a requirement, but when I was at the recruiting center I was told that the MP unit here in Ottawa only took people who were at least enrolled in Police Foundations.  Since I didn't want to be an MP I didn't follow up to see if that was actually the case...

    Step Test

It is the standard, but they told me they do a step test, so that's what I did :)

    Step Test

    Thanks WestCoaster :)

    Step Test

Sorry, should have read past the first page  :-X  That has the standards, but I didn't see at what heart rate they stop you at.  Well there was one, but not sure how reliable that said it's 24?  That seems low if you get to higher levels, and is there a difference for men and women?

    Step Test

I had my PT test this weekend, and instead of a shuttle run, my unit does the step test.  My running has been fine, I was fairly confident for a shuttle run, but my step test did not go well.  I still passed (yay!) but barely, and I'd like to be better prepared for next time.  Could some one...

Joining up in the Combat Arms Trade as an officer

For the relevant degrees part, I'm sure some on in recruiting can give you more details, but it was explained to me when I went in that there were certain trades that any degree was acceptable - infantry, artillery, and armoured being some of them.  I think there were 7? (some one correct me if...

    Reservists + Work

I don't really have any advice to your original question, but keep in mind when you're looking up labour laws that sometimes there are different rules for part time employees compared to full time.  Hopefully she comes around and starts working with you :)

    Increase my push ups count

It looks like it's a training regime for some one who can already do a decent number of good push ups, not sure if that's you or not.  I know when I started push ups there was no way I could do a diamond push up, I could barely do real push ups.  I used the same thing as ModlrMike, and it...

Direct Entry Officer (DEO) questions [Merged]

I have an honours degree, it was treated just like any university degree on my application.  I believe the difference is that an honours degree is a 4 year program and a general degree is only 3 years, but that may have just been my university's way of labeling different degrees.

    Finally making it!

I know that I haven't actually been waiting that long, since I started applying back in February, but it has certainly felt like it sometimes.  But I had a lot of fun with phone calls yesterday, but things are finally in place and should be out of the application process in a few weeks :)  The...

Advice needed re: joining the Reserves

Definitely talk to a recruiter and to the units in your area to see what their expectations are.  I asked about time commitment while I was being interviewed and was told for me (since I'm trying for an officer position) the expectation would be that I was there every night, not just the...

    Running

I like the Couch to 5K routine, there's an app for it or you can find it online.  Pick the week where you are able to start (if you're already doing 2.4k, you probably don't need to start at week 1), and go from there.

Easiest officer trade to get into?

Aside from your question of which one is easiest... Why would you not try Log O with your Commerce degree?  You mentioned you have no real job experience, and the experience you would get working in logistics would be applicable to civilian life afterwards.  My boyfriend is a Log O who has been...

    Getting paperwork before turning 16?

I printed off my own sheets and home and filled them out, but I'd made a mistake on one sheet and they had an extra to give me.  There's no harm in printing it out and bringing it in, if there's a problem, they will tell you and help you.

Alleged Institutional Racism/solutions in CAF (merged)

As a woman, and therefore one of these "target" groups... I guess... I have to say I hate hearing about pushing for diversity in any workplace.  If some one hires me, I want everyone to know that I got hired because I was the best person for the job.  I don't want people I work with...

Canadian Forces Aptitude Test (CFAT) [MERGED]

There are also sequences.  Like Allgunz said, there is a sample test on the CF website, but the actual test is harder than the practice one.

Canadian Forces Aptitude Test (CFAT) [MERGED]

I can't speak much to that site, since I didn't look a lot through it, however... I just wrote my CFAT a week and a half ago, and the biggest shock to me was that everyone else I wrote with didn't know it was going to be harder than the practice test that's available.  So based on that, you've...
