    The Blood Pressure Superthread

Get yourself some documentation from your Nephrologist explaining the situation.  If your kidney is otherwise in good health, and your blood preasure is only raised due to the kidney you should be able to make a good case for passing the medical.  I am speaking from experience, so if you want...

Army Mess dress in the Navy?

Actually the "Universal" kit is double breasted similar to the Navy.  Though similar to the Air Force Mess Kit, it is totally different.

    sleeping apnea

I have sleep apnea too.  I did a component transfer and had to have a medical.  I was given a med cat of G3 initially since I was given a geographical restriction due to the apnea.  I simply got a letter from a specialist and redressed the issue and was granted a med cat of G2 afterwards. There...

    Toronto Tailors

you had to go to Ruth's Tailor shop in Borden. Prices were around $1000 for Doe Skin and $850 for synthetic. Unfortunately, I work a day job and to get to Borden M-F 9-4 is unlikely so I haven't seen any of the work. Beauchamp in Toronto does a really nice job, but is way expensive at $1700.

CIC officer, wants to go to the rank in the reserve

True, however, they can ask you to recind your commission.  There were a few ex-CIC on the BOTP this summer who were OCdts... from what I was told by the member from my regt who was on the course, they were previously commissioned. As for BMQ, maybe you are right, but I will say on the officer...

    Summer 2006 reserve CAP

We had 2 candidates from our unit on CAP this summer.  One on the regular 10 week CAP and on on the "Centralized" 7 week CAP. The one who was on the 7 week CAP also did his BOTP this summer, so there wasn't enough time to do BOTP and CAP.  He now is doing the remaining POs through a weeked...

CIC officer, wants to go to the rank in the reserve

Having transfered from the CIC to the PRes, I can say it is the most convoluted process you will ever experience.   My transfer took 18 months to process.   The issue is that nobody is 100% sure how to deal with that type of transfer. For LFCA... the transfers are NO LONGER through the...

    CFAT TESTING

Its not that the test expires, its that the GMT doesn't count anymore.  If you wrote the GMT when you enrolled, you need to do the "new" CFAT when you do a CT.

    Closed Cadet Corps ???

Absolutely not. The school has a range and there is a rifle team at the school (separate from the cadet corps).  They still fall under the same regulations as any other corps.

    Closed Cadet Corps ???

They receive the same support from DND and the Army Cadet League that any other corps... plus direct funding from the school and past alumni.  They are not hurting for funds for equipment or activities.

    Closed Cadet Corps ???

Depends on the corps.  Some of these corps are Mandatory for students (like 142 St Andrews) and others are optional (like UCC).  The Mandatory corps tend to be a little more relaxed with standards (i.e. haircuts, level training, promotions etc). I was a cadet with 142 St Andrews and also a...

Cadet "Item Insurance" at home corps?

I have never ran across such a CATO.  Its highly unlikely it exists since Cadet units are responsible for securing their own insurance policies for contents at their HQ.  In some cases it may be the SSC, but its not DND.  I can't comment about what happens at camp.

From Pte to General, has it ever been done???

In fact, as far as I know, Gen Dextraze was the only Canadian ever to rise from Private to Full General. Joined the Fusiliers Mont-Royal in 1940, promoted to Cpl then Sgt and commissioned in 1942.  Was made CDS in 1972 and served as chief of staff of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in the...

    Alternate for the CIC

Now we're just arguing semantics really.  So, okay, substitute VP for teacher in my example. I think we both agree on the same point though... the regs state that unless there is no other CIC officer on slate, the TrgO cannot be a CI.  AND.... CIs cannot take the LTQ course to be qualified for...

    Alternate for the CIC

That is exactly what is being debated here... yes, the CI in most cases (with a few exceptions) will NEVER be qualified for the position (even though they have the experience and skill set to boot) since CIs can not take the LTQ (should be named TrgO course).  That comes back to the original...

    CF Uniforms

I guess the thing I found different is that, yes, while I joined an Reserve Artillery  ;) Unit, I did not join as an Artillery Officer, but a Logistics Officer.  Being that Logistics is a purple trade and all....  but at any rate I think its clear that CIC to PRes has its own nuances.
