    Fighter Pilot

The 7 Years for pilot starts once wings qualified. If you have 2.5 years of school left, that's really just 20 months of actual semester time (8+8+4). so 40 months = 3.3 years of obligatory service. If you spent the entire 4 year degree in ROTP, it would be 5 years of obligatory service. Corey

    Fighter Pilot

I can admit to you that my chosen field of study is quite useless aswell  :-\ (in terms of employment. It is however perfectly useful with respect to my own interests).  It's all about the post grad when it comes to jobs. Here is something to consider - Suppose you applied ROTP and were...

    Fighter Pilot

Fair enough - I just didn't want it to sound as though I was making a jab at those programs in particular. I was only using it as a comparison of the merits of a psych degree for relative importance in an application for pilot.  I would suggest choosing a program which you enjoy.  Nothing...

I didn't say that there weren't, and I didn't use the word "useless" anywhere in that post. Cheers

Science/Physics, Engineering or Math Degrees (will leave options open to you for test pilot if interested). You might be surprised to learn that there are pilots in the training system with Music degrees.  So that said, I don't see why a psych degree would be out of the question. Have any...

ATTN people to apply for ROTP Pilot

Yes, even with a pass at acs, they could offer you some other trade. You don't need to put down 3 choices. If you're dead set on pilot and won't accept anything else, then just put down pilot. (still doesn't mean its a sure thing though) Corey

BMQ changed to 10 weeks ?

Technically, Flips13 wasn't incorrect, perhaps his statement was simply misunderstood? The PT test for regforce is no longer conducted at the CFRC, as pointed out. So one can be sworn into the forces without completing a single PT test, regardless of their fitness level, leading to failures...

    Few questions concerning the military/joining

It is competitive, but it is not impossible either. Applicants do not require a pilot license. Any officer trade would require a degree. There are a few options when it comes to attaining that degree. ROTP, CEOTP, or on your own dime and then applying as a DEO (Direct entry). Yes, the forces...

    Sunglasses

While on the topic.  When in DEU's are we allowed to wear sunglasses? A Lt. (in civies) jacked me up in an airport last year for wearing a pair of serengities while in my DEUs - and told me I should get some issued sunglasses.... I asked around, but the answer i got was they don't make issued...

Looking for Helicopter mechanics, engineers, pilots...

If you're serious about trying the R/C route, then maybe hunt down a local r/c club and airfield where you can ask questions about the hobby, the costs, and where to purchase a used machine. also, www.runryder.com is the major R/C helicopter forum. You should be able to find the answers to any...

Looking for Helicopter mechanics, engineers, pilots...

Hi, Sounds like an interesting project. If your main concern at the moment is studying the basics of helicopter operation, then maybe it's a worthwhile investment to buy or borrow a remote control helicopter?  This would allow you to study how the swash plate and rotor head work (in general)...

    May BMOQ?

I just read an older thread in the equipment section on boots. Someone mentioned that its not likely one can get a chit for wearing none issue boots until after basic.  This was a 2004 thread. Is this still the case?  Just bought a pair of Danner Acadias knowing I may not be able to wear them...
