Veterans Ombudsman: Vocational, educational funding, programming needs work

The Canadian Forces Members and Veterans Re-establishment and Compensation Regulations were amended on October 1st, so this report is sorta out of date. Good news with the amendment though, for those who are doing VAC Vocational Assistance. The maximum amount for "tuition fees, books, computers...

    Customer Service Rant

Oh Walmart, why must you make those self-service checkout machines so infernally stupid! I was buying stuff to take with me to BMQ, and this machine kept asking me to put stuff into one of there plastic bags, I had my own (well, my Mom's) canvas bag, helping to save the planet! Anyways, the...

Priceless take on the economic crisis

The funniest thing I find about the Onion is if you go back 2-6 years and read the articles, I would bet that at least 50% of them have come true, even the really outrageous ones.

Hello all, I have a quick question, I have my swear-in ceremony on the 19th, but I didn't ask where it was, I am assuming that it is at CFRC Toronto (the place I called) and I think the recruiter assumed I knew that, I will be calling again on Monday to make sure. I was just wondering if anyone...

    Victory War Bonds!!!

Not too sure what it would be, it's probably telecom/tv stuff of some sort, since the power is already laid, they could've been contracted to lay fiber, or at least to lay piping/tubing that telecom/tv cabling can be pulled through. Hopefully it's fiber, and this is just the beginning of...

    Victory War Bonds!!!

I was going through some old news paper clippings I had saved from when I worked at the Oshawa PUC. One day they decided to purge their archives of old invoices etc.. stuff dating back to the 20's. Anyways, I found a bunch of newspaper clippings and articles from various Oshawa newspapers, I...

    BC Pipeline Explosion/Bombing

I do not believe this falls under terrorism, but "hate speech" in Canada, or just Free Speech with the 1st Amendment in the US. They can be arrested for disrupting the service, that's why they have to stay x number of feet back from the service, and they usually do. Most of the family is lawyers...

    "Government Only" Products

As far as I can tell, it the public version just skips certain frequencies, if it let you access them, then it would be just a simple plugin to demodulate it, if you don't have access in the first place, then there is nothing you can do about it.

Sound off: What are you doing right now? Aside from the obvious being on here..

Worrying about how I can convince a recruiting Medical Officer that I don't have the ailment that they diagnosed me with, because their diagnoses was based on misrepresented information. Hopefully i'll have my answer come Tuesday.

    Medical Form Snafu

I just received a letter in the mail today from the Recruiting Medical Office saying that I do not meet the standards because I have been diagnosed with Migraines. The thing is, I haven't had a migraine in over a year, and in total have only had 3, and I haven't really been diagnosed with them...

Electoral Reform (Senate, Commons, & Gov Gen)

I am not sure what kind of voting system this would be, but I wish that I could vote for a local rep in my riding independantly of the federal party. i.e. I could vote a Lib in as my MP, but vote for the Cons Federally, or vice versa. Never thought it through in any detail, but there are times...

    "Government Only" Products

Well, it's just a receiver, it cannot transmit regardless of what you do with programming, all you can do is modify what it recieves and how it demodulates, how it works with the demodulated signal, essentially you could do all this with a hardware device if you know how to build one. The Govt...
