I've spoke to several guys who have all said it's an Armoured position. Ostensibly, it's so that there's a liason in air to provide info on vehicle movements from the sky. Not 100% sure of its veracity but it sounds plausible!

All the time! It can be very difficult to lead your peers out of their rooms at the hotel when there's no room service and get something to eat at the steakhouse in the lobby when they've been working for 5, 6, or maybe even 7 hours in one day!  ;D
