Hey buddy,
Awesome! You get to live and breath the life everyday! Your CO would know much more about the process than any of us (unless you are a recruiter or the folks picking the pilots).
You are going about it the right way in my humble opinion - however I would add that starting up at...
Air Canada - the morons that run that dilapidated airline could have forseen the higher fuel costs and bargain for fixed rates for fixed length like Southwest did. Southwest is paying $70 per barrel I believe while the going rate for aviation fuel is much higher. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Soooo...the fellows that found the money. Are they $400,000 richer or $50 Million dollars richer? It is still considered legal tender so I would assume the value of the cash has remained the same. For all I know this find could be worth 0. I wonder what a CDN bank would think showing up with...
Not becoming a CF Pilot isn't the end of the world - I agree, however, it certainly does hurt when you are on the ground looking up at a pair of CF-18s streaking across the skies at 600 MPH. Drives me nuts everytime...knowing that some fellow is living "my" dream.

I guess we can all agree (despite our generational differences) that we are a product of our upbringing and environment. I can't lay blame on the Gen Y for turning out the way they are now (there are exceptions of course), that's for sure. What we can do is raise our current/future children...
Wow...thanks for all the responses. I guess I hit a chord with a few folks. I'd say history does repeat itself every generation except our industry "experts" believe the Gen Y's are different. Gen Ys are the first generation in history to be raised by parents that are exponentially more...
Gen X - those born between 1965 to 1979
Gen Y - those born between 1980 to 1990
In my line of business I see boomers, Gen X and Gen Ys all the time. I find Boomers to be very "salt of the earth", loyal and will do exactly what is asked of them. Gen X (me) are folks who like partnering with...
Thanks Everyone,
Aside from the obvious (get degree, laser surgery) is there anything I can do "now" to speed up the training cycle (ie. take French classes, flying lessons) assuming I am accepted? I'd like to find a way to fast track through at least part of the process - don't know if that...
Ugh,
Hi Neon...I've been through the CEOTP options with CFRC and MANY members on this board. I have some challenges I need to over come first (laser surg, start on degree, get in better shape are the main ones). The backup plan is join the reserves as an officer and build more time-in and to...
Quick question:
Is the CF-18 aircraft in Borden operational? Meaning it's not meant to fly but can be taxiid by qualified people under it's own power? I remember a Sgt doing this with a few of the Tutors stored there during my cadet Airframe course.

No need to get everyone tied up in a knot here. I thought I'd point out the fact that a training manual is available for a $30 Million dollar aircraft online and wondered about the legal ramifications. I see this as a security hazard but if everyone telling me it isn't then who am I to counter...
...FYI - the CHQ website states that the f-18 training manual is 1000+ pages including blueprints, schematics and diagrams - that would be one hell of a colouring book.

I'd think it's illegal because the inner workings of most military hardware is at least classified to the outside world. Documents like this could expose a weak link that could be exploited for nefarious purposes. I could go on and on - if these truly are operational training manuals then...
Folks,
Was just pointed to an Ebay link for an F-18 Pilot Training Manual for sale. This looks to be highly illegal but nevertheless has piqued my curiosity. I ran a google search on who else may be offering up F-18 or CF-18 training manuals and came across CHQs site.
If it is truly is...
