LOL, that is too funny, and with all new C-17's being built for ER (extended range) that would be just shy of 150,000 lbs of fuel, or if you do the math... 250,000lbs of fuel divided by 1.78 (a common number for finding fuel weight based upon a specific gravity of .8 equals... about 140,449...

With that flare shot, I have seen a single flare picture on an American C-17 - is that an acutally dispensed flare, or some sort of test flare fired from ground.  The posistion looks a little strange.

Well in the news and rumours the C-27 has been looked at for FWSAR - Practically a miniature J Model HERC.  I agree though the future is both hazy and bright for the airforce.  We will have to wait and see what happens in the future as it pertains with SAR.  As for the Polaris'  I don't think...

The herc fleet already has a few aircraft either retired, or earmarked for retiremet.  The airframes are just running out of hours, thus why they are purchashing the C-130J to replace them.  Sure the new HERC fleet will have fewer in numbers, but the GOVT is looking at a FWSAR so the HERCS won't...

I wish I was currently on course  ;D I could escape this weather..  However I have been slated to be on the second cadre that begins in July.  Perhapes there is someone whom is on this first course that can pipe in.  I would love to hear answers to this question.

Intresting to see that they would use the numbers in the 700 series - I figured to see the 5 digit tails as well to compare with the CC150's - 01 through 04, however 701 through 704 is a nice change.
