Police Officers doing good things

Watch "Fridays with Frank" on YouTube - he does a lot of good things...even to people most of us would likely throat punch after 2-3 seconds of them lipping off...

If you get an episode with his Sheriff doing a ride along with him, the Sheriff tends to let folks of with a warning in lieu of a ticket.

Props to the Washington State law enforcement folks who were out scouring the area for these two unfortunate kayakers, as well as Coast Guard and CAF SAR resources who were out in some pretty crummy weather during the search ...

U.S. authorities recover 2 bodies amid search for B.C. kayakers

Daniel MacAlpine and Nicolas West were last seen in waters off Sidney, B.C., on Saturday

County Sheriff's Office in Washington state says it has recovered the bodies of two people from its waters, but their identities have yet to be confirmed.

The discoveries in the waters off San Juan Island come three days after a search began for two kayakers last seen off the shore of Sidney, B.C., on southeast Vancouver Island.

Sheriff Eric Peter says the first body, of a man, was reported on Monday around 3 p.m. PT. He said authorities found the body floating in the water against the rocks in Grandma's Cove, on the south side of San Juan Island.

The second body was reported Tuesday around 6:30 a.m. PT, located in Middle Channel to the south of the island.
Both bodies were turned over to the coroner's office.

"Out of respect for the family, the Sheriff's Office will not speculate as to whether or not these are the missing Canadian kayakers," Peter said.

Earlier Monday, RCMP confirmed that a body had been recovered by authorities in Washington state and was believed to be one of the two missing kayakers, who were named as Daniel MacAlpine, 36, and Nicolas West, 26.

I know Tristan (somewhat - just through crossing paths within the emergency services community here in Edmonton) and he's a freaking HULK of a man!

He may be 6'3" tall but with his work boots on he stands around 6'5" or so. (I'm 6'2" and I can honestly say I feel pretty small whenever I'm near him!)

I had no idea he was a professional powerlifter, but now that I've read this article, it makes perfect sense actually

Representing the profession well! Absolutely outstanding, Cst. Hoathe! 🫡🙌

Here's one from a few years back which really touched a lot of hearts:

A group of Cornwall Police officers and staff banded together to assist a destitute elderly couple after attending what they thought was a domestic dispute, but turned out to be a heartbreaking story of elderly love.

I know many of the officers involved.

I know there is the ❤️ emoji but it doesn't do that story justice

I seriously love that 🥹❤️

If more stories like that got out to the public, or those stories were more widely shared among media, police would probably have a lot less hostility thrown their way

The media taints stories all the time, and I think we've all seen a very deliberate manipulation of more than a few law enforcement stories to make the police the bad guys, and push that narrative

It's hard to manipulate a story like the one you posted though. Surely even baddies must stop and go "Aaaaaawwwww..." every now & then

Was not unheard of for emergency services to finish mowing old people's lawns after a neighbor called. No publicity.

I’ve only been pulled over once, but I absolutely will not identify myself as a cop at a traffic stop until and unless it’s clear the interaction is done and I’m free to go, and if I was eating a ticket I wouldn’t do so at all. Were I to be catching a warning for something, after it was done if it was clear there was scope for conversation I’d say what I do and thank the member on the road for doing the tougher work I rarely do anymore.

Anyone trying to tin me at a traffic stop is challenging my integrity and I would see it that way.

What- police services should not sell/hand out get of jail free cards?
I've still yet to see one of these cards, and despite offering good money for one, nobody has even shown me what they look like...

...I get pretty ticked when I hear some random schmuck out there just 'had one laying around' and got to use it...

😤

...

EPS officers doing a fantastic job, as per usual. BZ to these guys!
