21 in the first offering down to 16 in the final. Either the government is using the same arguments that were used by Chretien 25 years ago or the price of each aircraft has gone right off the top. 5 aircraft down is a lot of capability to kiss off.

Only ever had 15 lost two. Adding three more new build upgrade units. So it will be 16 total in the end. Should have strong armed Leonardo to allow the VH-71's to be flight worthy in the beginning. Plus a wink wink from the US.
Those Italians did that twice. Once when the US offered the slightly used C-27J from the US Army and USAF and then with the VH-71's. They told us and others that they would not certify flight worthy the c-27J if sold on to others outside of the US government. So in the end they lost the FWSAR anyways.
