CH47 Chinook

Time is a factor in the oil rig industry, where this might be useful. However weather is always major factor with these and operating window for winds is small.

Not dead yet?

If they get this thing to work I can see it being more successful in logistics field than the passenger field. There is more room in logistics for low cost solutions that do not require on time delivery. Seasonal delivery of bulk goods for example. It doesn't necessarily matter if the cargo is a few days or a week late if you are transporting from inventory to inventory.

I seem to remember reading about some one out west advocating for using airships for re-supplying isolated northern communities. Winnipeg seems to ring a bell.

So what lies do we have to tell to get new kit?

Old and worn out? But still useable?

See above. Sea King? CC-130Es? CC-115s? Leo 1s? M113s? Bisons? Coyotes?

Surplus to requirement? But still in use by every other army?

We need a better lens through which to evaluate our needs. Increasing our options instead of just maintaining capabilities or improving existing kit.
