Does anyone know why these berets are called "Belgique" berets? "Belgique" means "Belgian" in French. I've looked at the Belgian army's web site and they actually wear standard berets with a leather band so it hasn't got anything to with them. Mine were made in Canada by Parkhurst. So what's up with this "Belgique" thing?

Parkhurst berets called "Parkies" are a knock-off of Belgique Berets, normally labelled "Codeba" made in Belgium.   Main difference sizing, price (P+$20=B) and quality (they held their form and seemed to last forever) .   Belgique berets were very popular for Offrs and Sr NCOs in 4 CMBG in Lahr/Baden, Germany.   The British Offrs on the Rhine also preferred the quality of the Belgique beret.

Thanks Gunner,

I've seen those berets and thought they were German. They used to have them at the RCA kitshop in Shilo.
