After all - the previous CDS was continually trumpeting to the press about how the Army was a bunch of Neanderthals, rife with sexual abuse, and other NON-attractive messages ...

Plus - the DND Recruiting home page tells you all about how you can join the infantry, and then when you retire you'd be qualified to dig ditches ... (another example of selling ourselves short, eh?)

Army recruitment slower than expected

FREDERICTON (CP) - An effort to attract 10,000 new full-time and reserve members to the Armed Forces is turning out to be a little harder than originally anticipated, says the commander of Canada's army.

Lt.-Gen. Mike Jeffery said Thursday that fewer people than expected have responded to the military's latest call.

"Certainly, we are getting good numbers, (but) they're not as high . . . as we had originally forecast," Jeffery said in an interview.

The army commander made the remarks while at Combat Training Centre Gagetown in New Brunswick, attending a military graduation ceremony.

Earlier this year, as part of a $15.2-million recruitment drive, the military announced its intention to increase the number of personnel in its reserve and regular ranks.

The military has adopted the slogan "Strong proud: Today's Canadian Forces," and hopes to expand its numbers to 60,000.

Jeffery said he remains optimistic the quotas will be met.

I hope these quotas are not the cause of a lowered minimum recruiting age. Quantity cannot function without quality unless you fight in China‘s army!
