US Job Protection for Reservists

Does anyone have any authoritative information on US job protection for Reservists (not just repeated hearsay). I would like to know if such legislation really does exist, national or state, how a reservist takes advantage of it, if there are time limits on the time away from the job, etc.

I have been told that there is no such federal legislation, but that some states do have legislation protecting National Guard members. But that was hearsay.
