Ukraine - Superthread

He's basically captain of a mercenary company. I'm starting to wonder if he legitimately is hoping to switch sides as many others of that sort have done in the past when they felt the their side was losing.
He's starting to think....."Still some time to salvage a nice summer vacation in late July at Cap Ferrat or a bit west at Antibes for a few weeks."

I like the one guy saying, "I'm for Peace after Victory" - there's a sharp guy...
I suspect a lot of those folks are now stuck in a Catch-22.
They die either way
1) Denounce War and die by Putin’s Tea and Window Service
2) Keep Encouraging and get hung at Nuremberg (or The Hague or Kyiv).

They don’t have a private Army to ensure that no one drops them out of a window and they are not chef’s preparing food…
Prig’s pretty much done double coverage on his insurance;)

Well, they would have to be caught to be tried under international law. Since I don't see a 1918/1945 style breakup of Russia after an invasion, I think it is pretty clear which is the safer option.

"Zuni aircraft rockets?" Sounds like the US is clearing out some of their old warstocks.

I don’t see Russia continuing to be Russia in more than 12 months.
Given their inventory of nukes, I hope you’re wrong… A weaker, more neutered Russia is probably still much better in the big picture than one that breaks apart and fragments.

Given the state of some of the towns and outlying regions, and the number of deaths of the men in those areas, there is an even larger imbalance between regions in Russia than before.
Also given the numbers of Belarusian, Russian, Chechen and other disaffected people fighting for Ukraine, even if Ukraine stopped at the borders, joined NATO and didn’t do much after, the St Pete’s and Moscovites have made a lot of enemies.

Add in Oligarchy Armies - I suspect that we will see a FYR 2.0 issue start to form

The only solution I see to fix that is a Western Friendly Leader taking control and asking for a Marshall 2.0 for Russia with emphasis on the impoverished areas. Even with that, I see the need for NATO troops to secure certain positions and facilities, as well as provide a SFOR type support network to rebuild.

There would be some sweet justice in that Marshall plan if newly minted Ukrainian NATO Officers led the Russian reconstruction.
After reparations of course.

I would rather see Ukrainian officers supervising Russian troops repair Ukraine, brick by brick, taking every cent out of the coffers of the oligarchs that financed and supported this "SMO"
