Interesting one-two punch here. Macron spent yesterday making nice with Trump but today he appeared in front of Congress where he delivered a speech which quite contradicts/repudiates much of what Trump stands for.

Besides the issues with policy direction, a lot of people found his identity politics, sticking his nose into police investigations, wishy washy foreign policy all quite frustrating. To be fair, he is an excellent orator, likely the best since Reagan. While the words flow like honey, they have little value. His family life is exemplary, something he shares with the Bushes.

"Her"? "Her" who? Hillary? This is really getting ridiculous, and frankly a little sad. You should come to grips with the fact that that "validity" is a fabrication entirely within the insular echo chamber of right-wing media. When Hillary lost to Trump her name became mud to virtually all left-leaning progressives, most independents and many Democrats - that is if it wasn't already. She's effectively a nobody when she isn't a toxic political liability. The fact that Trump and the GOP keeps trotting her out as some kind of pinata distraction projecting her as some kind of key "Deep State" actor - when they themselves are acting exactly like the Deep State they allegedly fear - is quite telling about their capacity and desire to actually govern.

This thread is U.S. Politics 2018. Hillary is not a significant factor whatsoever in that subject except in the fevered imaginations of the average right-wing media consumer. Start another thread about all the crazy stuff Hillary is supposedly up to if you want, but otherwise can we please move on?

Reality check: the door hasn't yet closed on her making another attempt in 2020.  There are people who want her to run again.  There are some who want her daughter to eventually run, and those people will want to stay in whatever ledger she keeps track of "good" people.  If there is a movement to "draft" her, do you think she might welcome a rematch against Trump?  Because absent a Republican primary challenge - which might very well happen - the Democrat in 2020 is going to run against Trump, and Hillary is as likely as anyone else to believe that if Trump is the Republican candidate in 2020, the presidency is there for whoever wins the Democratic primary.

Pedant alert!

Like "hanged by the neck until . . .", the same past tense of hang is more appropriate when it is in reference to "in effigy" for the same reason if it was the actual person being hanged.  Besides, considering Mr. Trump's small hands it is possible that he has never been "hung".

Unsourced claims about unspecified people with vague wishes and concerns about a "ledger" and a possible eventuality in the next Presidential election is not even remotely a so-called "reality check", especially not compared to the actual stuff going down right now in Washington.

The level of concern for the actions of a disgraced but maybe, possibly still somewhat connected former Senator and Secretary of State is utterly and grotesquely disproportionate to the concern allocated towards the possible crimes, verifiable venality, and rampant destruction of democratic norms and good governance in the likes of Pruitt, DeVos, Mulvaney, McConnell, Ryan, McCarthy and hosts of others actually in office.

And that's not even mentioning those currently in the White House.

That's a reality check.
