The Great War is airing on CBC for those of you who want a taste of it before it hits the T.V. You can find it on Youtube at....http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=cbcgreatwar

There is two clips..one of the making and the other of the final product. If anyone has any questions just ask. I was there. It looks pretty slick amazing how some editing and special effcts can turn such a cluster into a cool looking program.

Dear Friends of The Great War Project,

We are pleased to announce that the Great War series is coming to a television screen near you! As one of the original applicants, we wanted to send you a special invitation to make sure you don’t miss it.

Sunday, April 8th, 8 – 10 PM ET/PT, CBC – The Great War, Part 1: Follow 14 young men and women descendants – representing a cross-section of Canada – as they voyage through time to understand their ancestors’experience as soldiers and nurses at the front; from the St-Julien gas attack to the devastation of Newfoundlanders at Beaumont Hamel and the unifying of French and English regiments at Courcelette, you will see battles come alive during recreations and dramatic story-telling. (This show will be repeated on Saturday, April 14, 10 PM ET/PT on CBC Newsworld.)

Monday, April 9th, 7 PM, ET/PT CBC – The Great War Experience: As with real war, the 150 young volunteers chosen to participate in this project lived in an encampment and marched into the trenches to fight the battles their ancestors fought. This experiment in living history transformed many of their lives. The Great War Experience documents the relationships and bonds they developed, the hardships of living in another time and their thoughts and feelings about participating in the Great War project. (This show will be repeated on Sunday, April 15, 8 PM ET on CBC Newsworld)

Monday, April 9th, 8 – 10 PM, PT/ET, CBC – The Great War, Part 2: Culminating on the 90th anniversary of Vimy, this final episode of The Great War presents the glory and grief of Canadian soldiers at Passchendaele, Vimy and the last 100 Days. (This show will be repeated on Sunday, April 15, 10 PM ET/PT on CBC Newsworld.)

Although CBC and Galafilm will be mounting a publicity campaign about the show, we are counting on you, your friends and your family to spread the word. Circulate the dates of the programme to everyone in your e-mail address book. Make sure that your friends, parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents mark it on their calendars. Organize family gatherings to watch the programmes together and honour your ancestors who fought in the war.

We are very proud of the 150 descendants who answered the Call to Enlist. They were magnificent portraying their ancestors in these battles. We are sorry that we could not have chosen more applicants because the enthusiasm of those who applied was inspiring.

Our revamped website will be up and running a week before the broadcast, so please visit it at www.greatwar.ca .We have included trailers from the series, testimonials from the descendants who were there and information about the various battles.

And, of course, send us your comments about The Great War and The Great War Experience (greatwardoc@galafilm.com). We would like to hear what you thought.

Thank you again for your interest in our project.

Janet Torge, Producer in charge of Descendants.

Lundi 16 avril, 20:00 – 22:00 (HAE), Radio-Canada – La Grande Guerre, 1ère partie.

Lundi 23 avril, 20:00 – 22:00 (HAE), Radio-Canada – La Grande Guerre, 2e partie.

A Sgt in my company is in the show, can't wait to give him a hard time next week.

That Sgt you are going to be giving a hard time too was instrumental in making sure the director and film company didn't go too far out to lunch on their story line. Plus Mr Trudeau would not do a scene unless he has that Sgt's blessing to do so.

That Sgt had a nickname on the set. IT was Cpl F___K. And he lived up to it to.
I can still hear him screaming.

"YOU  GO CHECK THE WEAPONS"
"YOU GO TO THE KITCHEN TENT AND GIVE A HAND"
"YOU F___ OFF"
