Quick! Need an opinion on the applicability of this leave:

Special Leave (Community Affairs) may be granted at the discretion of the approving authority to provide CF members with paid time away from duty for the purpose of: attending courses or gatherings associated with the community affairs and needs of the military family community;

To this situation:

- member wants to attend (in uniform) the BMQ craduation of his son
(note: member used up all the remainder of his annual leave during Christmas leave as ordered to because he's going on course before March break)

Might be a tough one to sell to the CO.

If he was my soldier, I would recommend Short Lve rather than Community Affairs as this is more personal then to the "military family community".  My opinion only.

We've given special leave for this reason. Its an important event and member will be in uniform. COs discretion so ymmv.

I agree, short or special - but not Community Affairs.
