Serving in Shilo

I‘m looking for some insight into base living in Shilo. I can‘t find anything about this particular base, and I was hoping to here some pros/cons from some arty guys. It seems to be fairly out of the way, though I‘ve heard Brandon is a nice enough town and is close by. How would the base compare, to, say, Pet? Is it more modern, or are there plans to modernize it somewhat with 2 PPCLI moving? Thanks for any input.

Shilo, like any base, is what you make of it. A lot of gunners don‘t like it based on their memories of battle school. But me, I thought it was OK. Brandon is about 20 min west, Winnepeg is about 1 and 1/2 hours east. There‘s good fishing, hunting, and camping in the area. Brandons a better town than Pembroke, for family guys and for the single guys. Hope that helps.
