Retraining the Experienced and Ineffective

Sure, he's a paperpusher for the provincial government. Its probably decent pay, and he's had it for about four years now. Is he competent and effective at it? My educated guess says no.

I was a municipal grunt. They don't do it anymore, and of course I would never suggest such a thing on here, but one method they used to motivate "the experienced and ineffective" was to remove them from Operations for a "rest cure" ( assuming the individual was "burned out" ). That meant shovelling asphalt, digging ditches or "down on the farm" etc. Dirty, outside work with heavy lifting.

As long as they didn't drop your pay, they could pretty much do what they wanted with you in those days. Of course, that practice was discontinued many years ago.

Just the thought of it was enough to keep most of us motivated.  :)
