Hello,

Just a quick question, does anyone here know the rate of fire (rounds per minute) for a 105mm (towed) and a 155mm (tracked) howitzers?

There doesnt seem to be any kind of reference with this fact in it. Thanks.

Depends on how fast you can load the shells.

According to Janes the M101 has a max rate of 10 rnd/min and a sustained rate of 3 rnds/min...the LG-1 is 12 rnds/min.

Sorry there was not ROF for the M109.

Olive - you didn‘t learn the rate of fire, on your Gun Numbers course (or whatever they call it these days)????

Thanks for the input, It seems to vary across the board what the real answer is. Somewhere between 3 to 10 rounds a minute. The Max though, seems to be 10 rpm.

M109 A4(+) I think has a rate around, 3 for the first minute, 2 for the next and 1 a minute after that. Think about it this way if your at the sharp end... 2 rds FB X Rds FFE 60 Sec

The M109 has a max rate of 4 rpm and like Scott said, it is reduced after a few min of firing. Not to mention that it would be impossible to fire 10 rpm due to the fact that it is manually loaded. The LG1 can fire about 1 rd every 4 seconds if the Detachment is on the ball. But again it must be slowed to about rate 4 after the first few min. and even as low as rate 2
