Here is the farewell message from the outgoing Colonel Commandant of our Regiment. Not bad for a guy who started as a Gunner in D Battery.

The Colonel Commandant always seemed like a pretty switched on and in-touch guy. I met him a few times in the past four years (usually at a parade of some sort) and he was always willing to talk to the new gunners that he passed.

I haven't had the chance to meet the new ColCmdt yet, but I hope him the best in his duties.

This may be the first time in our history that we will have two Colonel Commandants in a row who started as Gunners. BGen Beno as noted above served in D Battery while LGen Jeffery was an apprentice soldier (enlisted at age 16 and took a two year program at the school in Shilo which gave them a Manitoba High School graduation diploma) and then served in 3 RCHA for a short period. They both are also graduates of the British Long Gunnery Staff Course, their name for the IG Course.
