I have been eyeing this coat that checks many boxes for me it seems very warm. Its by Canada Weather over on Amazon. Its in the 80 to 90 range. A neighbors kid was sporting one so he let me examine it. I was envious and might order one in a few days. Any ideas ?

I have never heard of that brand before, but doesn't mean it's not suitable for winter.

Here's the home page for the brand.    https://canadaweathergear.com/

Never heard of them before, but if you slap a "Canada" on your name people will think that you're dependable, nice, and that your products are suitable for the cold.  They may also confuse you with the more popular "Canada Goose" trademark.

. . .

Canada Goose filed a statement of claim late last month asking the Federal Court to stop International Clothiers from using its Canada Weather Gear and Super Triple Goose logos, "or any confusingly similar mark," which it says is very similar to its own distinctive circular logo.

. . .

And discussion about pros/cons on another site.

It seems to have some kind of (lower grade) synthetic fill. I'd go with a down filled option if you can, unless you don't mind being cold when it's under 30 degrees F.

For example, this MEC parka is down filled and looks reasonably priced, and they have a great return policy.... it's on sale too:

+1 on MEC (if they still exist) and on down fill.  I have either that one or a similar model and it is warm, relatively light and long enough to keep your core warm.  I looked at a lot of brands and couldn't find another I liked.  I also still have a Woods, either Oil King or North Slope - I can't remember and the label fell off years ago - I bought in the late '70s.  I've had that out in -40s and was toasty, but it is heavy.  I actually haven't worn it since I left Northern Ontario because it doesn't get cold enough where I am (and, being retired, if it does, I stay inside) but I can't bring myself to give it up.

I couldn't find that model on the Canada Weather Gear site and Amazon.ca says not available.  Burning up old stock?

In Sept I bought a new parka from kohls for $150 but I am still looking to replace a couple light jackets from Columbia which are warm and light.
