Whoooo!!

Way to go Sergio!!!  :D

Kudos to everyone on the list!!  Job well done!

I read tons of military books in my youth - technical, historical, and personal accounts - and was always impressed by what people were capable of doing despite great risks to themselves. I have visited a few battlefields, and been awestruck by some of the things that I have seen while imagining what the combatants did (for those who have not been to Dieppe, that is one pilgrimmage worth undertaking; don't let the locals know who you are, though, or you'll likely be taken hostage and pumped so full of food, wine, and Calvados that you'll not recover for weeks).

I have known many veterans in my life, many of whom are sadly no longer with us, and some of them have told amazing tales - a great pity and loss that they were not recorded.

It is obvious, by reading citations such as these, that today's troops are the equal of their predecessors. They can look the old guys squarely in the eye and know that they have maintained the high standard set for them.

Where once I was inspired by past deeds, now I am inspired by new ones as well.

(Actually, I got the food, wine, and Calvados treatment in Caen as Dieppe was an afternoon trip but caution is still advised.)

Sergio Tomasi......Serg?... Hey Vern, would this guy be an RCR? If so, I served with him in the early '80's in 1RCR London, Ont when we were no-hookers. Glasses, skinny guy (well 25+ years ago - then again, I WAS a bean-pole then too :)  ). If it's the same Serg I knew, good guy, with a great personality, willing to help anyone.

BTY - happy (belated) B-Day Vern

Well done to all our troops  :salute:  :cdn:  :salute:
