As part of there plan to retire the ISS after 2030, NASA plans to crash the ISS into the south pacific as a graceful retirement. Cause nothing could go wrong right?

Load it with supplies and have some turbo nerd figure out how to bump it into an orbit around the moon.

That was probably planned from the beginning.

As @dapaterson says, the South Pacific is a really big place with (comparatively) not a lot of air or ship traffic.

BUT what about the planet???? The tree huggers will be freaking out over this.

They just recently attached a new module, i wonder if that will separate and be part of the new station?

I would have guessed 'Rural Vancouver Island', but whatever :)

"Also known as the “Oceanic Pole of Inaccessibility” or the “South Pacific Ocean Uninhabited Area”, the region around the space cemetery is known for its utter lack of human activity. It’s “pretty much the farthest place from any human civilization you can find”, as Nasa put it."
