The City of Montreal has selected the name of  Elsie MacGill for one of the new streets being opened in the old Cartierville airport redeveloped land.

The Vancouver born Elsie MacGill graduated in electrical engineering from the university of Toronto and later became the first Canadian, and some believe first in the world, women to graduate in aeronautical engineering. She then held a variety of jobs in aeronautical industries around Montreal and in Ontario, including being the engineer that oversaw the production of all Hurricanes built in Canada during WWII, hence her nickname "Queen of the Hurricanes".

Someone well worth honouring.

OGBD, aside from the missed opportunity to name CYUL "Elsie MacGill International Airport", this is pretty fitting recognition for an amazingly accomplished Canadian (let's alone the gender trail blazing she also did).
