So after being told I was denied on my Medical in February of this year I waited for months to receive my unfit letter, though I was sure I already knew why I was denied.
It just came in the mail and I was denied based on past diagnoses of PTSD, Anxiety and Depression.

I will admit in my early 20s I had a rough go and a shit storm all happened at once where I had a bad break up with my fiance and moved out so lost my home, we worked together and I had to step away from my job,  moved halfway across the country to move back into my mother's house then watched my dog get hit and killed by a truck ar which point I kinda lost my mind for a bit after going through all that within a few months. I was diagnosed and medicated briefly, took a DBT course to help me deal with grief, stress, emotion Regulation and distress tolerance. I have not been on medication or under any medical care for over 6 years and my doctor clears me of any mental health disorders.

I am looking to speak to anyone who has been denied on their medical and went through the appeal process.  I am in the process of writing a letter and will have my doctor do the same, as well as my employer whos worked with me the past 5 years and my local MLA who is the NS Health Minister said he would write me a letter as he knows me and my history and where I am now.

What exactly do I have to do I just says to send a letter to the above address and  ATT RMO. Do I just send a big envelope with everything included?

I read something about a waiver online what does that mean and entail?

I was denied back in 2010 because I was on ADHD medication when I was 16 going for reserves. I got a letter from a specialist when I was taken off the medication saying basically I can be processed in so I'm going to try again next year for reg force med-tech. The most important thing is to keep your head up. This is a bump in the road but there is always solutions.

I got denied one time. I thought the only way to really "fight it" is to re apply in the future when it wasn't a problem anymore. I did that, and I got in the second time. I actually have all my files from the medical interview. Upon release I made sure I requested it from the RMO so I had all my ducks in a row next time I tried to get back in after I met the standards previously. And currently, I have my medical scheduled for this week, im re enlisting as a Reservist. Personally, I'd go a whole other route if I were you.

I would honestly wait like a year or two to re apply, because If I'm not mistaken Medicals are good for a year.  That being said, the second time you go in for a medical, they should have all your documents from the previous medical, so what I had done, is I already spoke to my doctors and saw the specialists I needed to see even though it wasn't a problem anymore they still made me go get specialist doctor notes to confirm my family doctors letter. So the next time I had my medical, I had all the documents they were going to ask for anyways and I was declared fit. I would also make sure the doctors mention its not been a problem for a long time etc. to show recovery from said issue.

And don't feel bad about it, honestly. Everyone I've ever met in the Military since I was in. Everyones had issues with their medicals, like honestly it's good that they're catching these things.

And, also I wouldn't personally share my medical stuff on here in case there is someone on here who knows you. Just saying you could have probably asked without dropping the background ;)
