Awesome kit...one of the MedTechs who is headed off to the sandbox for the third time recommended it and said they were utilizing kit that can be found on this site for their predeployment trg this time around...

I have a buddy who ran into these CTOMS guys while on tasking a little while back. Word on the street is that they're a bunch of solid dudes.

I recommended to another guy that he try the CTOMS Vickers sling for his current deployment. He was skeptical of the design at first, but by the time workup training was complete he was very happy with it. Service was excellent as well.

WB...the MedTech I know said they utilized this dressing and he said it rocks compared to what was being used...he said the pressure was more direct and effective for hemorrhage control...by the sounds of it it would help to maintain the peripheral tissues as well...because it has Velcro throughout it also allowed for a quicker more efficient and effective application...

He has dealt with them and has nothing but good things to say...they even waved shipping for him when he called direct...

If you read down in the medical area, their kit is mentioned in a couple of the threads.

Chris Kopp and co. do their best to keep up with the newest and latest technology and techniques. They got some pretty good inroads with CANSOF and US SOF units to provide feed back as to what really works and doesn't.

As for the Olaes bandage, its a good piece of kit, but not the end all be all. I carried it and used it, but other than its an all-in-one package, its use is not significantly better than separate packing and ER dressing.

Regardless of newness and cool factor, repetitive and realistic practice is required to maximize the benefit of any and all medical gear.

edited to add- the CF will pick up on the kit they sell in the next decade

I concur with the above statement. As a gear manufacturer, and one who analyzes designs and construction technique with a critacal eye, I can definately vouch for the quality and innovation of the CTOMS textile based product.

I have had the pleasure to bump into the CTOMS crew at trade shows and have also found them to be a stand up, class act.

Kind Regards

I wouldn't worry too much about buying them.  They have them over here already.  And yes, they are as good as the reports say.  Most of my Israeli's in my med bag have been switched out to them.  The dressing alone is a lot better, plus the added bonus of packing in the dressing it nice.  I'm still not sold on the "better direct pressure", but since the Israeli direct pressure wasn't the best anyways....
