GO GO GADGET PROPAGANDA LEGS!!!

This is actually relevant because they're using the F-35 program as a lump of crap to fling at the Conservatives. Personally, I'm unaffiliated and undecided, but I did think that the video was cute. Especially since the jets in the video appear to be c/f-18's. But I'm no expert.

Fighter Jets

Almost forgot, comments on the video are moderated, not open. Proceed with caution.

The head on view definitely looks like a Super Hornet, but the second flyby of the jets more closely resembles a F22/F35.

I am disgusted at the thought of the Lieberals once again squandering money spent on equipment like the EH-101.  I also have not forgotten about the SAR Lab crew that were lost at a time they would have had the EH-101 had the contract not been canceled.  But, I fear if an election comes soon that's what will happen.  Folks seem to be so pissed at the Cons, Harper in particular, that I could indeed see Iggy getting a minority run.  The Sheepeople will eat that kind of ad up like candy, just like last time with Uncle Jean.

JJ, you are on the east coast, which is more Libs AFAIK.

Fear not, the west is strongly conservative and quite happy with it. It also seems like the cons are making headway in Ontario.

I'm sure Mr Campbell will be along to give a much better articulated explanation.

I left a polite comment of disaggreement yesterday. No bashing, just said a couple of the posters needed to educate themselves on the issue first.

They won't post it ;D

ER always puts an eloquent spin on his musings, I only wish I were as talented.  I do hope you are right about the rest of the country as the thought of the Lieberals in power once again makes me want to spew.  But, being originally an Albertan I know only too well that Ont/Que is and has the throw weight to kick the rest of us around to the direction they travel.

recce, I have become used to not being posted there more often than not.  But again, I'm no ER.... ;)

I missed the part of the video where they noted how the JSF/F-35 started life in Canada under the direction of Prime Minister Chretien to have Mr. Alan Williams (DND's ADM(Mat) in the day) sign a 7 February 2002 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the US Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense and UK Secretary of Defence, in order to become a Tier 3 (SDD) participant in the program.  You know, a third of a decade before the Conservative party won the election and CONTINUED pushing the JSF procurement?  Maybe I better try and catch the ad on PVR, maybe I missed that part... ???

Regards

I think they are, actually, pretty good ads. But, if I were a Liberal I would be very worried about them because they are, essentially, "preaching to the choir," to the Liberal base, to the party faithful. If the party faithful need to be reminded of why they should be voting Liberal then the party and the leader are in trouble.

There is another risk with the F-35 ad: it opens too many doors - the one G2G just opened (this is, originally, a Liberal project which Harper is just "bringing home") and the EH-101 cancellation fiasco which can be painted as Liberals playing politics with national defence and risking CF lives to win votes. The ad is a double edged sword and the "bad" edge, the one that may come back and hurt Ignatieff et al, is very sharp.

A point: sooner or later there will be a Liberal Party of Canada government. We must all hope that the Canadian "centre left" and "left of centre" voters sort out their priorities before that happens.

Edit: typo

Quick look at the comments, evidently posters there have secret knowledge about the plane and our needs:

These jets are said to be a real underperformer in every single aspect. These aren't a true stealth capable like the F-22, easily detected by the AWAC system, I heard it's slow, and sluggish.

or

We're spending $16 billion to escort flights back to the airport everytime a drunk passenger acts up. Thumbs up Mr. Harper, can't think of a single place we could use that money (sarcasm)

Too bad G2G's post isn't included on the YouTube site, but then again, why let facts get in the way of the narrative?
