Keith's Actor Facing Child Pornography Charges
Feb, 15 2006 - 7:20 PM

The actor best known for his role as the angry Scotsman in the Alexander Keiths commercials is facing child pornography charges.
40 year old Robert Norman Smith is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of making available child pornography.
Authorities say Smith was the subject of an undercover police investigation.
They searched a Toronto home as part of a probe that involved people who were allegedly downloading child pornography from the Internet.
Smith has been released on $25,000 dollars bail and is due back in court on Thursday.

Don't be so sure.  If he's found not guilty i read in another article that they will
re-instate the commercials.  You have a temporary hiatus

What a shame, I love those commercials. Let's hope he is found not guilty, he's become something of a hero to me (angry man in kilt drinking Keith's).

What? I don't bloody care who he is, If they've got the proof, hang the ******. Either way, I can guarantee you his career is over.

There's no way Keith's will want someone who (even allegedly) had a connection to Child porn representing their company

Yeah, it's the media's fault for reporting the news. Maybe, just maybe this person has done something a little suspect, or maybe he is guilty of all charges, hell he could even be not guilty of anything but it is not the medias fault for reporting what has been given to them. By the way, that whole ad campaign was foolish and stupid. That guy has the worst fake accent ever and the whole idea was just another typical "I am from Nova Scotia, therefore I am Scottish" line of crap. Maybe now the people at Keith's (by the way it is one of the worst beers on the market) will actually have to be creative and come up with something clever to sell their product.
Now, before anyone starts flaming me about my N.S comments, it is just an observation I have from living here for the last 5 years (hopefully I wont make it to 6). Even where I am from (PEI) people make these foolish claims about being Scottish or Irish when their family has lived there for generations.

Unemployed loud mouth bastard who deserves a shit kicking at any social event he is seen at is more like it.

I have to agree with Gramps. I am from Nova Scotia. My family has been here since the fall of Loisburg. WE are not of Scottish decent in fact we are originally from ENGLAND. Don't let that corporate run Keith's Brewery owned Halifax water front give you a false impression of what Nova Scotia is like. Its not All "Sociables" and folk music.
That crap only plays at the Lower Deck and Halifax in general.
Funny that freak was a Toronto Actor. Not a real representation of Nova Scotia at at all.

If you want true Maritime culture go to  Moncton, Fredericton or Charlottetown

Oh, yes, because if I were to just go around saying "so-and-so likes kiddie porn" it wouldn't constitute libel. If the media does it, however, they're just "reporting what they're told." Either way, it hurts (ie destroys) someone's career and quite possibly their whole life. When was the last time someone being acquitted made the front page? (I remember... hmmm... Michael Jackson and OJ Simpson, that's about it.) It's like when a newspaper makes a mistake on the front page; the erratum is found somewhere where nobody looks for it, therefore it is not there to inform, but it is there to cover the newspaper's ass.

So I guess you'd say black people in North America have no right to claim they're African, because their family has been here for generations?

Don't get me started on those stupid "Sociables" or the lower deck for that matter, some folk music is ok but if I hear "Barret's Privateers" one more time I think I will snap. Sure Stan Rogers was a relatively good song writer but guess what? He was from Ontario....... any way, back on track here, I too found it odd that the spokesman for Keith's was from Ontario as well.

I have no problem with people knowing about their heritage or their history. I am one of only two people in my family that were born in Canada but I dont claim to be Brittish or American because of that. My birth certificate says Canada, that makes me Canadian. Now if you are trying to imply something by your post here, please by all means come out and say it.

WTF !?!?!? dude your lame. How did this turn racial.......and to answer you question...no they are not Africans. They are my neighbours and friends that have names, race has nothing do do with it.
I think you should do a background on Gramps check out some of his posts and I think you will find that your assumptions would be wrong.

Besides we are talking about the Keith's dude here playing his skin flute while listening to the Mini Pops

Hey mover when your sayin real maritime culture in MONTON etc what do ya mean.I come from Cape Breton i am proud of my Highland ancestory and our maritime culture.Your not one of them Louisburgers that are still pissed cause the ENGLISH kicked your asses couple hundred yrs ago. ???

This is exactly what I am talking about. It is okay to be interested and knowledgeable about your heritage for sure but you are not Scottish as I am not British.
Now, if you will read Mover1's post again you will find that he comes from English heritage "I am from Nova Scotia. My family has been here since the fall of Loisburg. WE are not of Scottish decent in fact we are originally from ENGLAND." So really, what was the point of your post?

So, to get back on topic, it is a shame that the Keith's guy has been accused of this but I for one will certainly not miss those ads and it is not the medias fault it was reported.

Pete Townsend was acquitted, he is doing just fine, and so is his career.

YA Gramps tried to edit the louisburg quote but could't get the edit to work, then i had to go.Point was don't be slammin cultures an roots of other people. The Keiths guy is very annoying by the way.Now i need a beer  :argument:not Keiths though.

What I meant by true maritime culture was going to Moncton (WHERE YOU CAN SHOP ON A SUNDAY!!! :threat: Just like every other civilized place) and sit down and listen to or speak French and English. But mostly cruse the parking lot and look at all the Nova Scotia Licence plate's. there are the same people that voted to ban sunday shopping but here they are in Moncton at the mall on a sunday and they gladly pay 15 % HST all the while they complain about government corruption and high prices and taxes but no one seems to want to do any thing about it.
PIPER
I like the area and we will probalby retire here but I am dissapointed in the Government selling everything out. We could have been the next Alberta, but the pipeline for the natural gas goes to the states. Maybe We are a bit defeatest in nature and its our own doing. A lot of people in the area that I live in take too much to heart and have a highshcool mentality about things. Holding stupid grudges that last years over petty arguments.

Back on topic

Well now that the Keith's Beer Guy is gone.

On to bigger and better things, lets say we start a letter writing campaign to get Molson to bring the "I AM CANADIAN" slogan back!!!!

you guys are afraid to admit it.  When those commericals first came on, you guys were doing your best scottish impersinations and copying the commercials. hell I cannot put my Kilt on for formal occassions without doing it just once.
