SPAWN AND Spider-Man had better watch their backs. This Canada Day, Sir John A. Macdonald will smite them with one swoosh of his super spectacles and history books.

An action figure celebrating Canadian heritage is causing a stir in collectibles circles, hobby shops and now Wal-Mart.

Nafekh Technologies created the action figure, the first in a line of Canadian Legends, in November 2003 and has seen sales and demand grow for Canada's first prime minister.

"It's hilarious," said Sonia Nafekh, who co-owns the company with her husband, Andrew Nafekh. "It's mostly adults, teachers and professors who are buying the dolls."

Macdonald is six inches tall, comes with a wooden stand and an information booklet and sells for about $20.

Andrew, 40, wanted a figurine that exemplified Canadian pride and, as a member of the navy, he was struck with how sailors loved Canada.

"He wanted to do something for Canada," his wife said. "We decided on John A. because we thought the best place to start would be with the person who put this country together."

Next in the line is Sir Wilfrid Laurier.

Adolfo Cerquozzi, national sales manager, anticipates other Canadian greats such as Louis Riel, Frederick Banting and Pierre Trudeau

Is that... Is that his kung-fu-grip?

Does it come with a complimentary bottle of liquor?  ;D

Will the Louis Riel doll come with a scaffold and hangman's noose?  Other Canadian greats indeed...although he was kind enough to provide a battle honour to the RCR...

Will the Trudeau doll come with an extendible finger?
