What country could lay claim to having the best quality trained infantry in the world.

Of course he's talking about "line infantry" here and comparing to the US system, but hey it's not polite to argue with a compliment.

Not specifically about Infantry, but based on working with USN and USAF folks I could see that our training was more diverse (as in not "I fix rear right tire", not GBA+) and in most cases more thorough than our counterparts down south.

A retired gunner officer commented re the above on Facebook by relating an anecdote from a Cyprus tour. He had been asked by a British infantry officer why no Canadian gunner had ever been awarded a VC. Paraphrasing here - he replied that our infantry are so good the enemy cannot get through them to attack the guns.

That's much more polite than "Our gunners aren't dumb enough to get that close to the enemy". 

Though I suppose in another way perhaps one gunner has gotten a VC.  William Hall was a naval gunner and got his VC doing army gunner type of stuff.
