Rochus Misch, who served as Adolf Hitler's devoted bodyguard for most of the Second World War and was the last remaining witness to the Nazi leader's final hours in his Berlin bunker, has died. He was 96.......

Interesting news story but Sgt Misch over dramatizes his role.  He was member of Leibstandarte SS, 1000 strong, Leader Guard Battalion in the Berlin but not a body guard per se, he was in the battalion signals detachment and one of 3 duty telephone switch operators in the bunker.  He did present an interesting and unromantic witness to the finals days in the bunker, both in Ryan's book and his own book.  Like Hitler's secretaries, he has remained incredibly loyal to Hitler the person all these years.  May he rest in peace.
