I thought the thread was going to point out that when the current HRH The Earl of Essex moves on to the great peerage in the sky, the next HRH Earl of Essex, a retired grocery clerk from Yuba City, California, will take over duties as an Honorary Air Commodore of the RAF…

Essex does not equal Wessex.

Wessex was one of the great Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of pre-Norman England.
