Happy Birthday, Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery    :salute:

Ubique

And as far as I can figure the first element to see action was the Welland Canal Field Battery fighting as infantry at Fort Erie on 2 June 1866 during the Fenian invasion of the Niagara Peninsula. It's been onward and upward since then.

Ubique

(Right on target all across the battlefield)

Was that the one where the Queen's Own Rifles ran away?

It's nice to see that someone stayed to fight as infantry.  :stirpot:

Go Herbies  ;D!!

In all seriousness, though, Happy B'Day.  Dad was 2 Horse, mom's Dad was 2 Horse and Brit RA as well.  Apparently, Great-Grand Dad was either RA or RHA.  So I'm a medic...

The fight at Fort Erie took place a few hours after Ridgeway, when the Fenians were withdrawing to the ruins of the War of 1812 fort prior to returning to Buffalo.

Happy 305th Birthday to the Royal Artillery, formed 26 May 1716

"Ubique means that warnin’ grunt the perished linesman knows,
When o’er ’is strung an’ sufferin’ front the shrapnel sprays ’is foes;
An’ as their firin’ dies away the ’usky whisper runs
From lips that ’ave n’t drunk all day: “The Guns! Thank Gawd, the Guns!”

Also 150 years of the Artillery in Canada.

Happy Artillery Day.

Ubique!
