General Ehsan ul Haq holds talk with Canadian counterpart
OTTAWA, May 16 (APP): General Ehsan ul Haq, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) who arrived here on a five-day visit on Wednesday held strategic discussion with his counterpart General Rick Hillier, Chief of Defence Staff Canadian Armed Forces. The meeting was also attended by Ward Elcock, Deputy Minster of National Defence, Vincent Rigby, Assistant Deputy Minister Policy, Dan Ross Assistant Deputy Minister Material and top leadership of the Armed Forces besides other important officials.
General Ehsan is the first ever Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee from Pakistan to visit Canada.
Both sides held detailed talks on security issues. The top military leadership of the two countries expressed desire to enhance military to military cooperation and agreed to institutionalize the relations by holding periodic strategic talks to share perceptions about the security concerns.
In his concluding remarks General Ehsan said that sharing of thoughts with Canadian friends on different areas of Pakistan-Canada relations, particularly on security perception and military cooperation was not only heartening but also reassuring
