That a 59 year old could get through Basic is a testament to the man's fitness and drive. Not many his age could have done it.

Good for him!!

Not just the physical aspect, but mentally & psychologically being strong enough to 'start fresh' at something new being that age.  As someone who is currently thinking about going back to school (I already have a useless degree) - mentally, it's not easy.

His age, in basic with a bunch of young people.  Good on him.
