Police Reveal Name Of Shooting Suspect After EMS And Cops Duck Bullets
Thursday June 29, 2006
He's got a gun and apparently isn't afraid to use it, which is why cops want to find him fast.
The Regent Park area of downtown Toronto was awash in bullet casings and yellow police tape Thursday morning after a suspect shot one person, then opened fire on cops and EMS crews.

Officers rolled to a downtown apartment building at about 4am after receiving initial reports of a shooting - they arrived at the Dundas St. East residence to find a victim with a gunshot wound to the arm.

Witnesses recalled hearing a cluster of shots at about that time, and five bullet casings were seen on the ground in the area.

"I woke up to a number of shots. I thought it was a car backfiring," said area resident Laura. "I said 'That sounds like gun shots.' My husband said, 'Those are gun shots.'"

At one point, the man allegedly turned his weapon on police and an ambulance taking the victim to hospital.

Cops are hunting for 23-year-old Quinn Borde, who they call armed and dangerous.

His background seems to back that up - he fled a hospital E.R. earlier this week after being shot and wounded in another incident on the streets.

The EMS driver who had to duck the flying lead knows how close he came to needing medical attention of his own. One bullet pierced the front of his ambulance.

"I was transporting, the crew was following - the crew going along Shuter, I was going down Dundas, going to meet the crew at St. Mike's," described Dist. Supervisor Brian Toshoff.

"A gentleman came out, stood in the  middle of the road, and had a gun in his hand, and took two shots ... it looked like it was directly at me."

Fortunately no emergency workers were injured in the shooting spree, but the individual fled before cops had a chance to apprehend him.

Officers closed down Dundas St. East and Queen St. East from Parliament St. to Sumach St. during their hunt for the suspect.

Now they're hoping you know where Borde is.

He's described as:

Dark complexion,
5'7",
160 lbs.,
Beard.
Cops are urging Borde to contact a lawyer and turn himself in. And they remind anyone harbouring him they could be charged for helping him evade the dragnet.

"It's horrific that these small number of people will go out in our public space and shoot at each other," an upset Supt. Jeff McGuire laments. "And now they're shooting at the police. And that's another notch up."

It's the latest incident of gun violence in a week that's been full of them - with about a dozen separate shootings.

It's disturbing to downtown resident Tina, who was too nervous to send her child to school in the wake of Thursday's shooting.

"My youngest daughter, today's her last day of school," she said. "It's a shame, now I can't even send her to school."

Anyone with information is asked to call 51 Division at (416) 808-5100 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS (8477).

But if you spot Borde, cops say don't wait - call 911 right away.

Below is a picture of the scumbag, who needs an appointment with a bullet and a ditch.  As well upon googling this oxygen theif's name it turns out only a mere 3 years ago he was convicted of various weapons offences after firing random shots in the air and pistol whipping a rival.  His case set the precedent in Ontario for "systemic racism" to be considered as a mitigating factor in sentencing, although in wasn't applied to his case cause the charges were too "serious".  Lets see if my math is right he was convicted on "serious" charges and now only 3 years later he is on the streets. Wow what a tough sentence he got.

It's a sad state of affair in Toronto. It looks like it's going to be the summer of the gun part two. Although, our wonderful mayor Miller (who, by the way has done absolutely nothing since being elected) says that our streets are as safe as ever. I beg to differ. He  truly is a socialist douche bag.

Toronto is a safe place huh.

Cops in gunfight

Police engage in running shootouts with thug

By VIVIAN SONG AND IAN ROBERTSON, TORONTO SUN

A man with a violent past is being hunted after a victim was shot and officers exchanged gunfire with a man in battles that shattered the dawn in Regent Park yesterday.

None of the five police officers involved were injured during the shooting but an SUV belonging to an EMS supervisor was hit by two slugs during the volley of gunfire.

The shootout began when paramedics were called to treat a gunshot victim who had been hit in the shoulder at Dundas and Sumach Sts. about 4:30 a.m. yesterday.

While on the way to the scene, a police officer passed the shooter, who was on foot, and tried to stop him for questioning.

The gunman, who police said is well-known in 51 Division, pulled out a pistol and fired four shots at the officer before fleeing -- one in a series of three shootouts during a police chase towards Queen and Bright Sts. and then Dundas and Ontario Sts.

The gunshot victim was treated and released from St. Michael's hospital.

The gunman eluded police and is still at large.

Supt. Jeff McGuire said police "fully suspect this is gang-related," adding that as recently as Monday night the gunman was treated at St. Mike's hospital for a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He left the hospital Monday before police arrived.

The man sought by police has already served time after pleading guilty to six charges in several violent crimes in Regent Park. In 2001 he was sentenced to eight years for assault and firearms offences in connection with two shootings and a pistol-whipping in 2000.

While police officers and a forensic identification unit combed nearby lawns and halls for clues, cops blocked off parts of the area to traffic, including streetcars, as they followed the running gunman, who ducked down streets and alleys.

"I can tell you, police officers, in protection of their lives and your lives, are prepared to discharge their firearms," McGuire said of the recent spike in gunfire between officers and thugs.

Police appealed to the gunman to give up.

"We are actively pursuing you right now," McGuire said. "We prefer to have this come out without (harm)."

He also issued a stern warning to anyone assisting the suspect, saying police will be handling the case with a zero-tolerance policy.

"Anyone harbouring (him) and doing anything to assist him, you will be prosecuted," he said.

Police said the shooter was last seen running east down an alley towards Trefann St., northeast of Queen and Parliament Sts.

Police spent the previous afternoon there after five shots were fired in the air over the course of 15 minutes. Three men surrendered two hours later, after a man dropped a box of .44-calibre cartridges when approached by patrolling officers.

Quinn Borde, 24, is wanted in yesterday's incident for attempted murder and numerous firearm offences.

What Craig Bromell has to say about miller

http://www.torontosun.com/News/Columnists/Warmington_Joe/2006/06/29/pf-1659043.html

The brutal truth - Bromell style
By JOE WARMINGTON

"I want him out."

Fighting words from Craig Bromell on Mayor David Miller.

"And I won't rest until he is out."

The talk radio host and former police union boss is livid about all the shootings and murders. And he blames Miller. "This is not the Summer of the Gun, Part Two. This is the term on the gun," he said yesterday.

Heads up because the socialist mayor will see plenty of opposition from Bromell when he starts his new radio show Tuesday. The 46-year-old husband and father of three, who had been hosting The Beat on AM 640 since 2004, will introduce an expanded format in the 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. time slot called simply Bromell.

"I want brutal truth and honesty," he said in an interview. "I am going to go after the politicians I don't like."

Some better start heading for cover because "I don't go half-measure on anything. If you are my friend I will do anything for you, but if you are an enemy I will hate you and store it in the back of my mind until I can take you out."

You just don't hear people talking this way in the politically correct world anymore. It's refreshing. Truthful.

"I will use the tactics I used as president of the union to get rid of them," he insisted. "There is dirt on everybody -- and I have a snitch line."

There's a number of people on Bromell's dirt list. Chief Bill Blair is one of them.

"Billy's a disappointment. It's too early to judge him, but if Bill Blair was the Bill Blair most people know, he'd be an outstanding chief. He was a tough drug cop."

On current Police Association boss Dave Wilson?

"What's his name?"

And Police Services Board chairman Alok Mukherjee?

"Who?"

Both, he said, are anonymous letdowns.

"The streets are being shot up but where is the Police Services Board? Cops are being shot at but where is the association? Why is it a radio talk show has to stand up for them?"

But his No. 1 dislike is Miller. "The nickname Mayor Useless does not go far enough," Bromell said. "What has happened positive in the past three years in this city? Nothing."

The problem, he acknowledges, is no candidate looks ready to challenge Miller in November. "My first choice was Julian Fantino, no doubt about it. We have tried everything to get the chief to run."

Bromell was "asked" to as well but doubts his "vote for me or F you" slogan would catch on. Radio might be a better fit for him. "I do have faith in Jane Pitfield," he said. "I think she would do a good job. If this turns out to be another summer of guns and death, I think she has a chance."

Meanwhile, he says, Miller and his lefty supporters have their heads in the sand and tweaking the very "truthful" statistics that show the shootings and murder are not on the decline. "They are offering a false sense of security."

Bromell says he'll keep them honest.

How's this for an honest question?

Are you a thug?

"Yes," he said. "There is no doubt about it. I am also a bully."

At 290 pounds he is a mountain of a man who doesn't plan on slowing down on his lifestyle. "I love my cigars and my scotch and fine restaurants," he said. "Until the doctors say I can't enjoy all of that, I will."

What a character? A connected character. The left have no answer for him. He's so connected there's not a day goes by when he doesn't get a dozen tips. And he will use them on the air to embarrass because "there are parts of the city I would not let my kids go into."

That, he said, should not be acceptable.

"At this rate, by the end of Miller's term more than 900 people will have been shot at and 700 will have been hit," he said. "I fear 200 people will be dead by the end of his watch."

Those numbers won't lie, he said, even if politicians do.

Only tough measures will stop it and, he said, City Hall doesn't have the guts.

"Miller's soft approach on law and order is something we will feel the brunt of for years to come. Under his leadership we have missed an opportunity to crush the crime wave."

And crush it, says the former 51 Division cop, is the only way. "Every day you have to have uniformed personnel and undercover officers in these gangster's faces. If gangsters smell nothing is being done, they get stronger."

It could be that shootings and murder are Miller's legacy. "If it becomes known as a city of violence, people will stop investing, it will affect tourism and our real estate levels will go down."

And more people will die -- which is the reason why Bromell says he wants David Miller out.

"Dark" complexion?  Are they afraid of something if they say he is black?  I mean, come on!  If I were on a wanted list, I'm pretty sure they'd say
"White
5'9"
165 lbs
moustache (rather Mercurian)"
Oh, they'd mention my hair colour and eye colour, too.

Same thing has happened in Edmonton as well.

But with rulings such as these, it appears that it actaully pays to do the crime.

I hope Bromell is still on the air by Christmas...Just like the gutless Left to try and get him off the air with some gutless underhanded trick.

If he can get Miller the A$$clown out of office so much the better as the current Mayor has done NOTHING for the cities police service since he was elected...And he can take the Association and services board heads with him! :p
