Changing Your User Name

For a variety of reasons (work. your ex on the site, your boss on the site) you may wish to change your user name to something less likely to identify yourself. As seen below though seeing a new name online, can really annoy the Staff. We do respect your right for privacy so it is requested should you wish to change your name, let the Staff know so at least we can keep track of our members here.

Update: There seems to be some confusion, this directive was placed here so you can inform the Staff and other members of this Forum of your change in handles. We as DS, don't make the name changes you can do so on your own in your Profile... Modify Profile...Account Settings.

A reminder about Army.ca’s changing of usernames can be viewed above.

This isn’t something DS has been cracking down on, as there hasn’t been a need to. However, it has been noted by staff that this request isn’t being adhered to where applicable in multiple instances over time, and a gentle reminder seems to be necessary.

At the very least, should a user have personal reasons for wanting to change their username in a discreet manner without posting it to the name-change thread, then simply send any DS member a PM indicating the change, and staff will be made aware. Reasons aren’t necessary if the user doesn’t wish to disclose. It makes our job easier in staying familiar with our users.
