Cyber Security Report

On March 4, 2020, CFMWS was made aware of a cyber security incident. In order to contain the incident, CFMWS immediately implemented security protocols and shut down access to all external gateways including email, websites and portals.

After a thorough investigation, we can confirm that the attackers used brute force, which consists of submitting many passwords or passphrases with the hope of eventually guessing correctly. This allowed them to access non-sensitive personal information from CFMWS’ employee directory, including name, title, email address, telephone numbers and passwords. We are pleased to report that no member information was compromised, nor the integrity of core systems.

Our core system is being restored incrementally as of March 9. This restoration process could take a few days to bring all applications and full services back online.

CFMWS takes this matter very seriously and is committed to providing our members with a secure and positive experience. We continue to take steps to improve and build an even more robust security system. This includes working with our trusted cyber security partner to assist us in securing our systems now and in the future.

We apologize for any inconvenience these outages may have caused and thank you for your patience.
