Canadian reservists awarded campaign medals

KANDAHAR -- A medal ceremony was held today for Canada's citizen soldiers in Afghanistan.
Fourteen reservists of Charles Company, 1st Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment, received their campaign stars in a rain soaked ceremony at Kandahar Airfield.

The reservists are headed home after a six month tour during which they pulled a lot of combat duty.
As he pinned their medals on, Brigadier General Tim Grant said "You're the ones who've made the unit proud, this task force proud and the country proud.''
Thrown into battle in late August and early September, Charles Company saw some of the fiercest and deadliest firefights of the battalion.

Campaign medals -- gold stars hung on a red, white and green symbolizing Afghanistan -- will be pinned on regular army members at a huge ceremony in late April at their home base outside of Ottawa.

Congrats!  Nice to see collective recognition if they can't all make it to the RCR's medal ceremony back in Canada.

Well done!

There's a familiar face and headdress.  ;D

Glad to see all our guys coming home alright...

Bravo Zulu to the reservists. It's good to see in hard print the distinction they make alongside their Reg counterparts. Just my 2 cents from someone who knows the value of reserve soldiers.
