Geez, what a bunch of killjoys. I wonder if a menstruating man is prohibited (cause that;s a thing now)

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — One Ontario university has already laid down the law on what costumes will be “prohibited” at the campus Halloween party this year.

Brock University’s list includes ankle-length robes worn by Arab men, makeup depicting Japanese geishas, anything with the Confederate flag on it, and costumes that depict Caitlyn Jenner, the transgender celebrity.

According to the school’s “costume protocol” developed by the student union, traditional or religious headdresses such as feathered bonnets and turbans, are also off limits.

“If a member of your party is denied entry because of their costume, they will be escorted to a space where they can change or remove the offending item,” students have been told.

Thank Justin there's a safe place for people to change out of these costumes, would be horrible if they triggered someone. I wonder if there will be 1-800 numbers set up and counseling on call for people witnessing one of these illegal costumes? It's great to see our universities preparing students for the world.

Man that is pathetic.

I have a Jubba (arab ankle length robe), I have an Imama (Muslim style of turban), I have leather socks and Surma...

If I was close to this university, I would wear it and then see which version of political correctness wins out...

I do think 'some' protective policies are 'ok'. But this is ludicrous.

So are they going to call out the SJW shriek, point and dehumanize police if a Sikh or a First Nations member show up in their traditional apparel?

Guess it depends on the venue?

Outraged witnesses say these two Halloween partygoers at the Campbellford, Ont. Legion, one wearing a Ku Klux Klan costume and leading another in blackface by a noose, won first place in the night’s costume competition.

How can a .... ? Oh, never mind.  :)

Manpons!

I had an awesome time growing up in the 70s and going to uni in the 80s.

Too bad for you kids today.

Student unions are full of SJW and they are always the authors of this BS. Most people go to university to get an education and get out and they don't have time for the craziness that goes on within student politics. So we get this sort of crap going on, hope some engineering students (are there any such animals at Brock?) confront these arse clowns.

It would be poetic justice if Brock Students were to simply boycott student union events until SJWs were turfed.

Sadly, this simple and effective solution is unlikely to be implemented.

SJWs and their unguided mission to be offended more than others is ridiculous; but dressing up as a KKK member and Blackface person is unacceptable, the offence this draws is not a new arrival and those who chose these costumes should be ashamed of their lack of fore-thought and the Legion should ashamed of letting this be accepted within their walls.

From the First Nation people I know, their traditional apparel/regailia isn't a "costume", it's more of an (and I'm only approximating the description) expression of who they are spiritually, so I'm guessing you won't see all that many wearing their regalia outside of ceremonies or educational situations.

I want all the First Nations and Hipsters to stop wearing plaid!! It upsets me to see my culture so abused!!! Excuse me as I go to my safe space at the pub.

Is it cultural appropriation if a First Nations person were to show up wearing a three-piece wool suit with cotton shirt and silk tie?

Perhaps some would consider it "Hypocritical"....... >:D

Although it would be a sign that the person is not living totally in the past.    [:D

I still want to see AbdullahB show up in his attire and say " Costume party?  No one told me this was a costume party!"

Maybe not so much when you consider at one point, Canada tried forcing First Nations into such a mould, with less-than-stellar results.

Whew!  I have a tartan and a castle....safe!  ;D

Can't we dress up in other cultural regalia as a form of  standing in solidarity  with them?  If not maybe paint my face and pants red and go as a feminist protestor this year.

What is our society coming to lol

If it was me going I would dress up as a SJW and make a satire of the whole thing, though from the way these people are, I would likely get booted.
