Heh... the only true way of ensuring the elimination of all UXOs is to make one big crater...... with one hell of a charge.
Let's be honest here.... once you let fly your ordonance, it's gone AND all you can do is hope it does go off ELSE your spotter gets to see where it went to.
Remember those last years with the old 3.5in rocket launchers. You'd eat propellant, you'd try to compensate for the shifting weight of the rocket going down the tube... and the rocket would be "up, up and awaaaaay"... sometimes it would and sometimes it would sputter and land not far forward of where you were kneeling.
