Hope this is the right place for this  :-[  but ive been scrolling through the history calendar and Ive found an error with it. It is in reguards to the entry for Jan 25th 1952 which reads:
1952: Vincent Massey appointed first Governor-General of Canada

This is wrong on two counts.

1 He wasnt appointed GG on that day, it was Feb 1st 1952

2 He wasnt the first GG he was the 18th (Since confederation), although he was in fact the first GG to be born in Canada, which is why it is such a historic event. Because all other subsequint GG's had to be Cdn Citizens.

Info is here>>>

Incidentally, why do you have the insignia of the Govenor General, as well as the Presidential Distinguished Unit Citation in your profile?  Your age is listed as 35 which means you're too young to have served with the PPCLI in Korea.  Did you earn this citation serving with US forces, perhaps?

I dunno - 2 PPCLI perhaps (authorized to wear one and earned the other)? :p

2 PPCLI is the only Canadian unit allowed to wear the PUC, but individuals allowed to wear it wherever they go are limited to those who saw action at Kapyong....seems like an odd choice for a personal avatar, frankly.

I am guessing the Governor General's flag is supposed to represent, then, the insignia for the Commander in Chief citation?

I'm not going to go through this again like I did with another forum member, Yes I am with the 2nd BN, I wear both citations with pride, although I did not serve in Korea, as stated we do wear the PUC. As for the GG Citation, yes I was in Croatia Sector South in '93.

Does this clarify things?

Any comment about the original post would be most satisfying.

Negative. All personal who serve with 2 PPCLI are authorised to wear it, when they leave the unit they take it down, that is of course if you were there. But I dont know too many vets that were there and are still in the BN.

Tada...looks like I was right (although the answer was fairly obvious).

Can we end the witch-hunt now?

The fact that more than one person has brought this up independently suggests, to me, that the use of that avatar a bit ill advised.  Individuals are free to use whichever avatars they like, naturally.  But, like the way one chooses to express themselves in print, will go a long way to forming impressions in the minds of those encountering them here.  How you write, what nickname you use, what avatar you select all goes to which league you place yourself in.

All I'm saying.  If I wanted to hunt witches, Infanteer, I'd look up your ex girlfriends.  :-*
