hey  there i was wondering if anyone around here knew how to braid 5 50 cord for say a lanyard/string for a knife??....ive seen some pretty nice braids..but am completely clueless.....thanks in advance

It is definitely a hands on thing.  If your near Cold Lake PM me.

Yes, I would like to learn too...love that stuff...too bad I am not in Cold Lake :(...I am on the other side of the country in NS.
And where does one get this cord?

HL

HL Google "550 cord" and you get a ton of hits for retailers that sell it on-line.
An example -

Have fun.

If you take the small lines out of the center of the cord before you start the "crown" knot you get a flat sided square.  If you leave them in it's more round.

I am so excited...I have asked MudMan to show me how to do these braids for about three years now  ::) and he hasn't lol
So now I am going to learn myself... ;D
One more question...does anyone know if I can buy this 550 cord in Nova Scotia anywhere or do I have to buy it online?

HL

HL....check your local QM. I know we got some at the unit.

Try the local surplus stores they may have some new from the manufacturer.
:salute:

Thanks East Coast Shooter...
I will check that out  :)

And then everyone wait for it...the "Frustrated Braider" will be looking for lessons...lmao

Either that or I know what I am doing tonight...sigh. ;D

Teaches you how to make them. Its how I learned.

I just doubled up the superbrick stitch to make a real nice keychain.
