He's 49, been in politics for 18 years, has a new wife and new child, and has another child on the way. His dad was in politics and Peter rarely got to see him. Is it so despicable to think that he might want to be with his family and watch his kids grow up?
Very sad to see him leave. He was an outstanding Defence Minister, Justice Minister, family man, and one of the two men who should be credited for uniting the right and taking down the corrupt Liberals in 2006.
I think we've all heard of her ::) The myth about her being behind the scenes, unapproachable, and invisible exists because the media want it to exist. Still, a good profile of her.

I saw the Ottawa Police sentry during the Vimy Ridge remembrance. From what I could see it was one Ottawa police officer (no squad car), one Corporal (overwatch and answering the public's questions), and the two sentries on duty.
Have you called or emailed to ask where he was? Some of them were across the world (i.e. Vietnam) on legitimate parliamentary business. Mr. O'Connor has had health problems owing to his age. *Hopefully* they all had a valid reason.
Has it been announced yet? As far as I can find (and knew...) it was LGen Millar. I more meant along the lines of someone with a logistics background than the trade per se - someone who has experience in developing and growing policies surrounding personnel, materiel management, acquisitions...

Statistically speaking, the person to become CDS was usually either: a) VCDS; b) a liaison/deputy commander at NORAD or NATO; or c) the Army Commander. It's usually Air Force or Army...
Being Acting Lacking for more than two years would trigger a review by DGMC. They would evaluate any medical issues and determine the appropriate course of action.
