    UNPROFOR Roto 5 - Oct 94 - Apr 95 - 1RCR

Tess I'll have to look it up in the Eight-Pointed Star from the tour, but one guy from int took most of the shots in the book.  I'll try to get in touch with him and see where the negs are. PS I was the sect comd for Rastevic Security that night.  Good on you and Badani, hope you are well...

Iran and Syria confront US with defence pact

Here is an excellent article on this subject. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml?xml=/opinion/2005/03/01/do0102.xml

    CF on TV forum...

More like flip off to the CBC, they have done zero for the military.  Once Mercer gets a regular journalist type job at Mother Corp. watch his attitude change.  But, it was funny and I'm sure the 12 people that support the military AND watch the CBC will write their MPs to demand change. ;)

Iran and Syria confront US with defence pact

Nope.  It was Iran, N Korea and Iraq.  Now with Iraq out of the picture Syria could take the empty spot. ;D

    AN/PRC 117

Saw lots of stuff back there, even got to check in fighters once.  You can remote the rad op consol to one of the scopes in the back.

    AN/PRC 117

Duey, Radop The E-3 can rx the TOD and then keep the time for an entire air wing in battle.  It has twin rubidium oscillators to keep the time accurate, that was before GPS had the accurate time for HQ.  It also has a radio that is solely for tx'ing the TOD.  We used to spark it up on the...

    AN/PRC 117

Duey The set (AN/PRC 117F) is has both the HQ I/II and Sincgars waveforms so it will talk with our 412s, etc.   I think that Radop was referring to the difficulty obtaining US net numbers and WODs since they are NOFORN, unless you were on USAF E-3s for four years ;) ;) ;) Radop,   Go to Tinker...

    Dresden Firestorm

Milward in "The German Economy at War" states that the reason was Speer's efforts to place the economy on a "Total War" footing with all the efforts that it entails, i.e. dispersal of industry, deception, camouflage. An excellent pre-war economy article is to be found here...

HF - Lost art or Lost Cause

Anyone who takes basic comms is taught antenna theory and how to calculate length.  They are also taught propagation and the different types of radio waves.

TCCCS - when will the full system be implemented

Radop I agree that it does have some good capabilities and I have not spent all of my career in 1 Bde.  TMHS when running, is quite good.  In the end the kit doesn't matter, PI, PII P whatever; it's the message that counts.  If LCol X is still using voice to pass his orders, then the system is...

TCCCS - when will the full system be implemented

PPCLI Guy, You've just touched the surface of some of the problems with TCCCS. The lack of equipment is felt across the CF as it seems there is not enough to go around once a BG is out the door.  The light Bn's were not even in the mix for dist because of the 10/90 concept during the fielding...

    "communications" & "signals"

Who told you to lay all that line, God?  Remember the world is not that small and Signals makes it even smaller! V.V.V. Director:  All the V's in Velox Versutus Vigilans are caps.

    "communications" & "signals"

The idea is that anyone who is NOT part of the C&E Branch who does communications is a signaller.  It's really semantics.  This is directly from the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals Corps Standing Orders which are perpetuated by the C&E Branch. Other points for those who may not know Signals is...

    "communications" & "signals"

Right An infantry soldier who carries the radio for his platoon commander is a 'Signaller'  He is not in communications or the C&E Branch. I know this is repeating other posts but.... The C&E Branch consists of: Signals Officers Communications and Electronics Engineering (Air) Officers...

HF - Lost art or Lost Cause

Another good HF freq prediction program is called PROPMAN.  You can plug in your freqs, Tx and Rx locations and the program will predict the best freq for both voice and data.  PM me with your DIN email and I will send you a copy. Just for grins, HF has been used for outlook email transmission...
