    Aircrew Selection Jan 17th-21st

Learn to think fast and accurately. Mental math plays a big part, and so does being able to follow directions. Be sure to answer what the questions are asking, and be able to do it quickly.

    Application Process Samples [2003 - 2018]

Managed to survive the ASC crucible at Trenton, and qualified for all three trades! Still have more medical testing to be done for pilot (owing to a kidney stone I had 5 years back), but I'm supremely glad to have made it through to the next step.

    College Student questions

To answer your physiotherapy question, head to the following link: http://www.forces.ca/en/job/physiotherapyofficer-44 As for the family thing, what in particular is it that they're opposing? I've been in the process now for nearly a year (wet behind the ears, I know I know), and my mum still...

    Aircrew Selection Jan 17th-21st

So I'm curious to know if anyone that frequents these boards is headed to Trenton for Aircrew Selection on the 20th and 21st. Been spending the past month studying, and would be nice to commiserate over some food in the mess.

    Application Process Samples [2003 - 2018]

Wow, talk about a brain fart. Clearly I was just too excited to be posting properly as I'd have a hard time going through the process at Borden, and not Trenton... *gently dabs egg off face*

    Application Process Samples [2003 - 2018]

Got the call for Aircrew selection today! I'll be headed off to Borden from the 17th to the 21st of January (hooray for Ontario in the dead of winter...). I'm just super-thankful for the chance to hit the books for a month between now and then.

    Application Process Samples [2003 - 2018]

Playing the long game on this application :P Interview was successful, now to await my call for ACS at some point between now and whenever. Also updated my trades to better reflect my desire to be on the sharper end of the RCAF stick.

    Application Process Samples [2003 - 2018]

Long-overdue update. Just got the call for my Medical at the end of September. Supremely pleased about it, and definitely excited to continue on with my application.

Adding a 3rd trade choice to your application?

Not surprised that the Intelligence Officer position is no longer available; I was told there were only two spots in all of Canada when I wrote my CFAT earlier this month. During my post-CFAT chat, I was told that adding a third trade to one's application was a relatively simple task that...

    Application Process Samples [2003 - 2018]

Yeah, I'm not banking on a speedy process, though I don't have any foreign implications or anything else that would make me stick out as a security clearance problem. Quintessential Forces maneuver of "hurry up and wait," which means time for more PT, and improving my mental math skills.

    Application Process Samples [2003 - 2018]

Updates: Went and wrote my CFAT today. I passed, but was informed that there were only two openings for both PAO and IO positions, and that the competition for those spots would be incredibly fierce. As a result, I've re-shuffled my choices (still aiming for the PAO position), and added in the...

Officer occupations – Which one should I choose?

Get used to the waiting, you'll do a lot of it. If you are selected for further processing, you will receive further notification, followed thereafter by a date for your CFAT.

    Favourite War Movies

Growing up I was fed a steady diet of "classic" war movies (Battle of Britain, Zulu, Bridge on the River Kwai) courtesy of my Dad and Uncle, so whenever we get together inevitably we'll wind up watching at least one of them. More recent favourites of mine include Ken Burns' PBS series on the...

    Initial Processing

Waiting is entirely normal. The sooner you learn to hurry up and wait, the easier your application will become. As one applicant to another, be prepared for it, and make the most of your down time while you still have it.

Nothing really to do besides hurry up and wait, which is a fine CF tradition.

Coolest WW 2 plane (split from F-35 thread)

But will it beat the 4:30 autogyro to the Prussian Consulate in Siam?

What is everyone doing in their spare time while waiting for the call?

More time to PT! Come over to the Shore, and we can do some ruck marches.

    Possibility of attending next BMQ

Before all the more experienced hands jump in on this, here is my advice: Be patient. The Forces move at their own pace, and the age old pastime of "hurry up and wait" is something us applicants all have to get used to. You may be shunted through ASAP, you may languish, it all depends. With...

What is everyone doing in their spare time while waiting for the call?

Currently working on my PT with a great program based off of Russian Kettle Bells and lots of running. Otherwise I'm doing day hikes nearly every weekend and brushing up on my French, as it's slipped away from me since finishing school.
